04 Jun Heidis Heroes funding more bereavement counsellors

At least four new bereavement counsellors are to be trained for Cruse in Gloucestershire – thanks to funding from Heidi’s Heroes. The funding means Cruse can offer bursaries worth a total of £1600 to help train more volunteers to help reduce the charity’s three month waiting list for people grieving the loss of loved ones. In the first year after training the counsellors will support 30 bereaved people, with that figure continuing year on year.

Heidi’s Heroes founder Paul Wood, received support from Cruse himself after Heidi died so was keen to support the charity in its work helping other bereaved people in Gloucestershire. Cruse is based in Cheltenham but has volunteers all over the county and offers one-to-one support, group sessions and telephone support.
