Pembrokeshire Sponsored Walk

12 Apr Pembrokeshire here they come!

Kind-hearted Colin and Emma Parsons from Cheltenham are preparing to stride out on a 189 mile trek along the scenic Pembrokeshire Coastal Path in aid of Heidi’s Heroes.

The plucky pair will be donning walking boots, waterproofs and sunglasses on Thursday 15th May when they start their 11 day walk that takes in a total of 35,000 ft of ascents and descents.

The husband and wife from Charlton Kings had been friends of Heidi and Paul’s for nearly 20 years when Emma was diagnosed with breast cancer just six months after Heidi. Emma said the kindness and reassurance Heidi gave her was immense – despite knowing her own illness had become terminal. Emma said: “Heidi gave me fantastic support when I was diagnosed and during the initial stages of my treatment. She was so kind and such a lovely lady. We were good friends and now I’m recovering we felt we wanted to give something back. What happened to Heidi was tragic, sudden and a great shock to us all. I just hope people will sponsor us and be generous!”

The couple will be walking between 14 and 19 miles each day, starting at St Dogmael’s near Cardigan and finishing in Amroth, near Tenby. They have arranged to stay in B&Bs, pubs and hostels, some of which have given generous discounts in support of the cause.

This is the first time Colin and Em, as she is known, have undertaken such a stretch of this coastal path, having previously just walked short sections. Colin said: “We holiday in Pembrokeshire quite often and love the area, but have never done this sort of distance in one go. We’ve bought some special blister-free socks and are really looking forward to it. Lots of people have pledged donations so we hope to raise as much as we can.”

To donate to Colin and Em’s coastal path hike visit the heidisheroes Virgin Money Giving page and remember to gift aid your donation if you are a UK taxpayer. Thank you.
