With the River Thames shrouded in early morning mist and an Autumnal chill in the air, our five Heidi’s Heroes fundraisers took to the water on Day One of the 125 mile challenge.

Paul, Richard, Tom and Dylan, supported by friend Malcolm ‘Clicky’ Clarke set out from Lechlade just after 8.30am making for Eynsham, 25 miles down the river.

Despite an aching back 11-year-old Dylan paddled his way through the day to complete his challenge notching up nearly 25 miles and raising around £200 so far – and there’s still time to donate at virginmoneygiving.com.

The fundraisers arrived at Eynsham about 6pm to set up camp for the night – after nine hours on the water. And as they rested their weary arms and legs for an evening meal they found ‘Heidi’s Pie’ on the menu – a coincidence almost too amazing to believe.
